Esta vez se ha batido un récord en la velocidad en que un rumor descabellado se convierte en noticia.
Rumor que, además de sorpresa, ha terminado siendo oficialmente confirmado por una de las partes implicadas.
Definitivamente, Gino Ianucci abandona Chocolate Skateboards después de más de 20 años en el equipo; y después de ser una de las caras más representativas de la identidad y de la historia de la marca; y después de, no nos olvidemos, haber sido apoyado en los momentos más difíciles de su trayectoria personal y profesional, que no han sido pocos, por sus jefes Rick Howard y Mike Carroll.
Esto no quiere decir que la ruptura haya sido dramática sino que, según lo que ha transcendido, podemos adivinar que ya todo el mundo en la industria es consciente de que las cosas han cambiado y que van a seguir cambiando hasta que los modelos de negocio que hasta ahora han funcionado se adapten a una realidad que nada tiene que ver con lo que ocurrió en los años noventa, lo que ha ocurrido desde el año 2000 o la nostalgia que podamos arrastrar por todo aquello.
El rumor saltó a principios de semana gracias a las maquinaciones de terceros – quienes al final han resultado estar implicados en todo el asunto – , y la posibilidad de la marcha de Gino del equipo fue filtrándose poco a poco a través de los comerciales de Crailtap en las tiendas en las que tienen cuentas hasta que, finalmente, se ha hecho oficial con su retirada del website de Chocolate que, por lo general, suele tardar un montón en actualizar contenidos y noticias.
Oficialmente esto es lo que se sabe.
Sin embargo, los responsables de haber desencadenado esta cascada de acontecimientos se mantienen callados y no han ofrecido ningún tipo de información salientable. Y no son otros que las cabeza visibles de Fucking Awesome quienes, hace unos días empezaron a dejar pistas en diferentes redes sociales sobre que algo podría estar pasando con referencias a material antiguo de Gino Iannucci de la época de 101 – previa a Chocolate y donde, curiosamente, fue compañero de equipo de Jason Dill entre 1993 y 1995.
La verdad es que no se sabe si la iniciativa partió del propio Dill o cómo realmente se gestaron las cosas y, dado el grado de oscurantismo con el que se manejan en F.A., puede que nunca lo sepamos.
Lo único que deseamos que esto signifique es que Gino ahora tiene un aliciente para salir a las calles y ofrecernos un poco más de ese estilo y esa elegancia que nos ha ido dando con cuentagotas durante toda su carrera.
Y no queremos seguir perpetuando el dicho clásico de que preferimos ver-a-Gino-dando-pata-que-a-cualquier-otro-haciendo-no-se-qué… (aunque sea cierto), así que aprovechemos para revisar esta recopilación del último material de Gino Iannucci para su antigua casa Girl/Chocolate sacado de los extras de su último vídeo.

This time a new speed record has been set for a wild rumor to become news.
Rumor that, in addition to surprise, has now been officially confirmed by one of the parties involved.
Definitely Gino Ianucci leaves Chocolate Skateboards after more than 20 years in the team; and after being one of the most representative faces of the identity and history of the brand; and after, let’s not forget, have been supported in the most difficult moments of his life and career, which have been a few, by their bosses Rick Howard and Mike Carroll.
This does not mean that the break up was a drama, but according to what has transcended, one can guess that right now everyone in the industry is aware that things have changed and will continue to change until business models, that have worked so far, adapt to a reality that has nothing to do with what happened in the nineties, nothing to do with what happened since 2000 or nothing to do with our nostalgia for such things.
The rumor started earlier this week thanks to the scheming of others – who ultimately were revealed to be involved – , and the posibility of Gino‘s quitting was slowly seeping through Crailtap reps in the shops with accounts until it has finally been made official with his withdrawal from Chocolate‘s website, which usually takes a lot of time to update content and news.
Officially this is it.
However, those responsible for triggering this cascade of events remain silent and have not offered any information on the subject. And they are no others than the Fucking Awesome head honchos who, a few days ago began leaving tips in different social media outlets about something that might be happening with references to old ads of Gino Iannucci from the 101 era – pre Chocolate and, interestingly, a time where he was Jason Dill‘s teammate between ’93 and ’95.
It is not clear if the initiative came from Dill himself or how exactly things were planned. We may never know.
We could only hope that this means that Gino now has an incentive to go out in the streets and grace us with a little bit of his style and elegance sparingly given to us throughout his career.
