Aurelien Giraud es el skater del momento; se acaba de coronar campeón del TAMPA AM 2015 con tan sólo 17 años, flipamos con él hace unos meses cuando llegó como un desconocido a Vigo, se llevó sobrado el título del O’Marisquiño y ahora está en boca de todo el mundo. «El chico de Nike«, el futuro del skate francés, rider de Red Bull y Plan B parece tener un horizonte más que prometedor frente a él. Viendo cómo plancha (solidez, técnica y velocidad combinados con una tranquilidad que roza lo absurdo) no nos extraña su reciente título, y tampoco será nada raro que obtenga una buena posición o incluso algún trofeo en la próxima edición de la Street League Skateboarding, pero tiempo al tiempo.
Dado que no sonaba demasiado su nombre en España, hemos hurgado en su pasado y te presentamos su evolución de forma cronológica con unos cuantos vídeos que andan perdidos por la red, empezando por el 2011, cuando Aurelien Giraud tenía tan sólo 13 añitos recién cumplidos.
-2011 trucos (trucazos para la longitud de sus piernas) sueltos en un skatepark francés. El chico ya empezaba su adolescencia tirándose al barro, ¿Será que nació con el 3flip incorporado de serie? Sin embargo, verás en el siguiente vídeo la tremenda evolución del joven Aurelien.
-2012 Skatepark de Lyon, un vídeo llamado «Blacklist» con el patrocinio de Monster energy. El chicho le va cogiendo el gusto a las rampas…
-2013 Skate en Marsella. Uno de los primeros clips en los que aparece patinado en la calle. Quizás para desmarcarse de la clásica etiqueta de «skater de park».
-2014 Red Bull le hace un vídeo «Portrait» en el que se muestra su lado más familiar y trucazos grabados en calidad cinematográfica, lo cual hace que llame aún más la atención como plancha el tío. Pocos con 16 años tienen o han tenido la solidez de este francés, ¿compartirá mecánico con Shane O’Neill?
-2015 Programa Talent Street. Este es un vídeo curioso, Aurelien Giraud participa en un programa de talentos francés de televisión. La presión del público y las cámaras parecen notársele al principio, pero con ese flip desde lo alto del quarter y el ¡¿backflip?! deja claro que está hecho de otra pasta.
-2015 Gana el O’Marisquiño. Lo dicho antes, llegó prácticamente como un desconocido y se fue como un campeón por la puerta grande.
No podemos predecir su futuro, pero una vez vista su trayectoria estamos seguros de que su nombre estará entre los grandes si no hay nada que se lo impida.

Aurelien Giraud is the top skater of the moment; he has just won TAMPA AM 2015 being just 17 years old, in summer we left astonished the O’Marisquiño after he won it too easily and, now, everyone is talking about him. «The Nike sb guy», the french skateboarding’ future, Red Bull and Plan B rider seem to have a bright future in front of him. Watching how he nails any trick (solidity, technique and velocity combined with an almost absurd tranquility) it doesn’t surprise us his most recent title, and it wouldn’t be strange if he achieves good results or even a trophy in the next Street League Skateboarding edition, but let things take work themselves out.
As the world wasn’t aware of his potential until this year, we have dug into his past and we present you chronologically, with some lost and found videos, his evolution, starting on 2011, when Aurelien was just 13….
-2011 some tricks at a random french park. This was just the beginning, an early teenager who was born knowing how to 3flip.
-2012 Skatepark of Lyon, a video called «Blacklist» sponsored by Monster energy. After minute 1:00 you will see tons of real hammers, don’t forget he was 14 years old, and the evolution compared to 2011 is simply crazy.
-2013 Skate at Marsella. One of the first clips where he appears skating street, maybe to take himself away the «park skater» label. Even outside the skateparks, Aurelien Giraud makes it too damn easy.
-2014 Red Bull makes a «Portrait» video about him. Here we can see a deeper side of the french, heavy tricks in cinematographic quality and the birth of a real pro skater. We wonder if his creator is the same mechanic who developed Shane O’Neill’s software…
-2015 Talent Street tv show. This is a funny video in which Aurelien Giraud takes part in a french talent program. The video starts with the skater missing tricks due to the public and cameras’ pressure, but then it happens: flip off a very high quarter and a… backflip!? yup.
-2015 Wins O’Marisquiño. We were there and we saw it, he arrived being an unknown and left Vigo (city in which the tournament takes place) as a champion.
We cannot predict his future, but having seen his trajectory we are sure that his name will belong to the hall of fame if nothing stands in the way of his path.
